Debt Respite Scheme (Breathing Space) in force from today – 4th May!
The Debt Respite Scheme (Breathing Space Moratorium and Mental Health Crisis Moratorium) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 (the ‘Regulations’) are now in force. They give someone in problem debt legal protections from their creditors.
Private Rental Sector Exit Plan?
Now that we have a roadmap out of national lockdown, the Government “should set out how it intends for the sector to transition out of the pandemic… to publish a proper exit plan for the private rented sector from national and local restrictions” says the Housing Communities and Local Government Committee*.

Landlords – Why You Should Prepare For MTD For Income Tax In 2021
On 1st April 2021, the soft-landing period for eligible businesses over the VAT threshold to comply with Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT will come to an end. Anyone currently following the rules of MTD for VAT will need to make sure that the software they use is able to send information directly to HMRC going forward.

How much should I insure my property for? This is a question often asked of the team at Vista Insurance Brokers, and, whilst they cannot provide specific advice on how much you should insure your property for, they have given us some useful information to share with our members.
The government has extended the evictions ban by two months until at least 31st May 2021
The ban is an extension of the stay on bailiff eviction that has been repeated several times during the Covid pandemic and was due to expire on March 31st.

John has run an electrical contracting and property maintenance firm for many years. He decided to go into property letting around 35 years ago after working for other landlords. He still provides a service for these original landlords in the Bolton area.
